Duck Hunting

Pamlico Sound & Core Sound Open Water Duck Hunts

Cedar Island, Neuse River, Portsmouth Island, Core Banks Waterfowling

Salt Air Ventures duck hunting guide service offers a productive and unique experience along North Carolina's Southern Outer Banks, an area rich in waterfowling history. I will take you "Down East", to Cedar Island where we’ll encounter blue bills, redheads, buffleheads, canvasbacks, gadwalls, teal, widgeon, black ducks and a variety of sea ducks and even swans. Midway through the morning I'll break out the stove and prepare everyone a hot breakfast while we're hunting.

My Duck Hunting Guide Service generally yields shooting 4-6 different species of ducks, a mix of divers and puddle ducks. I hunt out of a custom scissor rig made of juniper, on a 23’ Parker. This setup allows us to become our own floating pine island, with a huge spread of decoys around us. I operate one of the most productive North Carolina Duck Hunting Guide Services in this area. "I will do my best to ensure your party has a successful duck hunt and most importantly an enjoyable outing."

"Being mobile with the scissor rig gives me the option to hunt a different area each day, not being tied down to the same few blinds each day. Seems like “Blind shy” birds aren’t as much of an issue. The scissor rig definitely gives a more “up close and personal” approach to shooting ducks."

When duck hunting on the Pamlico Sound, large decoy spreads are a must, I use over 300 decoys of numerous species each day. A normal hunt departs from the boat ramp at 5:00am and returns around 1:30pm.
