August Already

I've been a bit tardy on fishing reports over the course of the summer this year, fortunately I've had a bunch of really nice people to take keeping me busy busy. Here of late the fishing groups have been having some very nice catches on both the half day nearshore trip and also the full day bottom fishing charters.  The half day fishing for spanish mackerels and bluefish has stayed strong, with most days yielding catches of 15-25 mackerels, more on some.  On the last several bottom fishing trips the vermillion snappers, triggerfish and black sea bass have really been chewing.  We had a monster, 74 pound wahoo, on one of our bottom fishing trips.  He was swimming around the boat, eating scraps.  The groups are still scratching out some groupers as well.   The recreational red snapper season has come and gone, we were able catch them pretty well on the days when the wind cooperated.  Soon the neuse river will fire up for the old drum fishery, pretty cool trip if you've never caught one of these dinosaurs.  Please book in advance if you have specific fishing dates the next several months a potentially the best of the year.📷📷📷📷📷📷📷📷
